Nordic News – November 2015

The Nordic patrol has historically been a small (but vital!) part of the Calgary zone, but those of us who have participated in the cross country style of skiing have always enjoyed the beauty and solitude of being in K-Country during the winter season.  We patrol both Peter Lougheed Park and West Bragg Creek during the winter.

Our “On Snow” day is December 5th from 10:30 -4 at the Peter Lougheed Visitor Center.  The agenda will include meet & greet the CO’s, protocols for working in K Country, and operational differences between downhill and Nordic patrolling.  If there is enough snow for the tracks to be set, there will be an opportunity to ski for a bit as well.

Even if your main goal is to be an alpine patroller, we welcome you to come shadow one of our Nordic patrollers and see what this patrol is all about.
