Education Matters

First of all I’d like to welcome Chris Oliver as your new VP Education, so this will be my last ICE post.

2015 CSP Manual and Written Exam Review
As mentioned in the last ICE, there is a new 2015 CSP Manual. This is now available for download from the National Database System (NDS). After logging in to the NDS (find the Member’s Login at http://www.skipatrol.ca/, you will need your CSP ID and password that you set, select the National Database System button) you will find the manual under Education Tools, My CSP Manual. You can find the “Written Exam Review 2015” by entering that into the search function under Zone/Division/National Shared Files under Member’s Tools. While you are in the NDS please check that your contact details are up to date (View/Edit your Personal Information).

Returning Weekends
The returning weekends will be 19-20 September, 3-4 October and 17-18 October. As usual these will be at the Whitehorn Multi-Service Centre, 3705-35th St NE. Rosters will be set-up shortly under the Calgary Zone Roster page.

Instructor Certification Program
An Assistant Instructor/Instructor course will be held 29-30 August at Whitehorn. This is open to all zone and Mountain Division members who wish to become AIs or upgrade to Instructors. Let me (Andy Hill) or Chris Oliver know if you want to attend. There will also be an Instructor Trainer re-certification that weekend – I will let the ITs know who needs to attend. The Annual Update for AIs and Is will be held 9-10 September. This is part of your re-certification and attendance is required.

New Patroller Course
The new patroller Advanced First Aid course will begin with an information session on 8 October and continue to 19 November. The on-snow evaluations will be on 21-22 November. If you know of any potential recruits let them know that there will be an Open House 29/30 September and also provide their details to Marielle Flottat – we need more people and if everyone could recruit one new patroller it would help.

All dates will be posted to the zone upcoming events calendar. Another busy fall training schedule coming up, enjoy the summer in the meantime.
