An Update from VP Education

Hello Calgary Zone,

Let me start off by saying congratulations to Mark Nodwell, Cody Whitten and Christine Slater for their new roles on the Calgary Zone Executive. I look forward to working with them in this upcoming year. I would also like to thank Glenn Bonsall, Dan Mathes and Marielle Flottat for the blood, sweat and tears that they have put in over the last couple of years.

Ok now to the point.

I am writing to let you know that the 2016 fall schedule and written review guide is up on the Calgary Zone website. You can find them under the “Returning Patrollers” button at the top of the page. I strongly encourage you to download the 2016 written review guide for your viewing pleasure.

The following is a quick summary of some dates to mark on your calendar.

Recert weekend #1
Sept. 10th-11th

Recert weekend #2
Oct. 1st- 2nd

Recert weekend #3
Oct. 15th-16th.

You can roster for these days on the Calgary Zone roster page and remember all the instructors are usually in better moods on the first weekend. Just kidding, we are always in a good mood.

Did you ever want to become part of the Education team? Well, if you are interested in becoming an Assistant Instructor (AI), an Instructor (I), or an Instructor Trainer (IT), please contact me at  [email protected] and I will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

To all the existing AI’s, and I’s, this year the Instructor recert nights are on Aug. 22nd-23rd. I will send out more information about the agenda when we get a little closer to the dates. So for now make sure you book this time on your calendar. Now for the IT’s, our recert night will be held on Aug. 11th and I will send you more information in the upcoming weeks.

The Ski Sale volunteer dates for this year will be from Oct. 18th-23rd.

Remember to update your information in the National Database System (NDS).

I look forward to seeing everyone again this Year but till then have a great summer.
